About Us Gail: “I have been sewing since I was five by hand and on a machine since I was eight. My grandmother was a dressmaker and taught me well. Over the years, I supplemented my knowledge with sewing seminars and pattern making classes. I danced ballet, tap and jazz when I was young. I grew up in the Bangor area and we had a seamstress who made all of our recital costumes. Then an aunt of mine who lived in NY City, sent me a boatload of dance costumes that had belonged to her neighbor’s daughter, complete with a pair of toe shoes. I was in heaven! My friends and I played with them as we grew up and so did my 3 children, now grown.
When I first moved to Massachusetts, I started making bridal and prom wear. One of my wedding gowns was featured on the cover of New England Bride Magazine in 1991. The techniques I learned making wedding gowns has come in handy making waltz gowns for ballroom.”
Pat Foley also danced as a child. She has an artistic flair and began designing costumes for her four children who danced and started doing competitions. She is great at combining colors and decorating with crystals, ribbons, trims—whatever it take to give the costumes the WOW factor.
